Arohi and Avarohi
Ascending and Descending Movements
In an octave, the specific ascending and descending order in which
notes within a Raga are played is called the Raga's, Arohi
and Avarohi.
Let us take a Raga called Bhoopali, which is an Audava / Audava
or five note ascending and descending melody type.The
Arohi and Avarohi of this Raga are:
Arohi: Sa Re Ga Pa Dha Sa(upper octave).
All natural notes are employed.
Avarohi:
Sa(upper octave) Dha Pa Ga Re Sa
